Description: In this video I show how to use the old school Taekwondo "side kick" (yeop chagi 옆차기) from the martial art of Kukkiwon Taekwondo (Kukki TKD) that was often used during the W.T.F.'s old school "Power Era" (1980's - 2000's), long before the days of the electronic-hogu scoring system. This video focuses on using the heel for optimal damage output, but more importantly making sure you're using the correct leg against your opponent which is determined by whether you're in an open stance vs closed stance. Also explained is the difference between a formal "side kick" and a "cut kick" (aka Cut Side Kick) which is essentially just a modified side kick/push kick that instead uses the ball of the foot, the knife edge, or the flat foot to strike with. The guest coach in this video is Cyrus Washington. Be sure to watch until the end of the video for a link to his youtube channel! This video also features a clip of Shane Fazen from Fight Tips using the Cut Side Kick against me in sparring. @fightTIPS @Cyrus Washington -------------------------------- Subscribe to Kwonkicker for more martial arts tutorials with a focus on training Taekwondo for modern Kickboxing Sports, MMA, and practical applications.
